Sarah Anne (Holladay) Kroier of Wetumka, Oklahoma passed away on June 13, 2017 at the age of 30.

Sarah was born in Oklahoma City on November 7, 1986 to Doug Holladay and Kerry Lance. She grew up in the Oklahoma City area, and attended the Classen School of Advanced Studies. There she studied music, specializing in the flute, in addition to the normal secondary education curriculum. She met many of her life-long friends there, as well as her husband, Eric Kroier.

Sarah began university studies at the University of Central Oklahoma, later transferring to Oklahoma City Community College to complete general education requirements. She intended to return to UCO to study funeral service and mortuary science, to work alongside Eric at their funeral home.

Sarah suffered through many illnesses and afflictions, of both body and mind. Despite these challenges, she was always gracious and kind to those around her, and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. In January of 2012, Sarah perceived that there would be no comfort sufficient for her distress in this life. She sought what mercy she could obtain for this life and the preparation for eternal life through the mysteries of the Holy Orthodox Christian Faith and began her service to Our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ. On Easter Sunday, 2012, Sarah was baptized into the Church at the Church of the Holy Ascension in Norman, Oklahoma, where she was given the name Carina in honor of St. Carina, whose martyrdom is commemorated on her birthday. Sarah and Eric were married there later that year on November 10.

Sarah loved animals of all types and kinds. She kept many cats and dogs as pets, and would even try to look after the wild animals living near her Wetumka home. The nearby armadillo she named Francis, and a possum she named Nigel. She and Nigel were not always on friendly terms, but they had reconciled. When Sarah was leaving out cat food for the strays, she realized that Nigel the possum was stealing it. This lead to a regrettable confrontation where Sarah struck Nigel with the brush end of a broom several times while Nigel obstinately hissed at her. At last, Nigel relented and fled the porch. This was likely the only time Sarah ever intentionally hurt anyone or anything.

Sarah is preceded in death by her mother, Kerry Lance; her mother's parents, Ned and Joan Lance; her grandfather, Alan Holladay; and her uncle, Keith Lance.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Eric, of Wetumka; by her father, Doug Holladay, of Oklahoma City; by her sister, Andie Holladay, of Oklahoma City; by her grandmother, Gail Holladay, of California; by her aunt, Debra Holladay of California; and aunt Diane Western and husband Keith, of California; by her uncle, Neil Vanderheyden, of Taiwan; by her dear friend Tina Emmerson, of Oklahoma City; and by many others who loved her dearly.

The world is immeasurably diminished by her passing from it.
